DD wants one for christmas. I haven't a clue what I should be looking for (generations??? which one and why is there a difference???Blush for not knowing)
Where is best for buying things like this?
Should I be looking at accesories for it too? (she has a ipod docking station for an older ipod already but a case? would that be necessary)
Thank you in advance for helping this totally out of touch granny (or so I feel)!

I bought my dd an iPod Touch 4th generation from Amazon, as it was the cheapest new one I could find.

I went for the smallest memory, because I think it's sufficient for dd, but depends how many photos, videos etc your dd will want yo store on it.

I also got a cheap flip open cover on amazon for dds iPod, as I know her friends have had problems with the screen smashing when dropped. It only cost about £4.

The iPod will come with charger and headphones.

Sorry, I didn't answer all your questions.

The iPod comes with different amounts of memory. I believe the lowest is 16 gb. The iPod 4th generation with 16 gb is £125 on amazon at the moment. I think 4th generation is the latest model, but on the apple store they don't list the generation anymore.

We have 3 ipods in our house. Dd 1, aged 14 has the newest 5th generation (the coloured ones). Dd 2, aged 10 has the previous version, 4th generation. Ds2, aged 8 has a handed down 3rd generation. Some apps are not available on the 4th gen due to older technology. I'd check if yr dd has specified a colour ipod ... she'd be disappointed with the 4th gen if she was expecting/wanting a coloured 5th gen. Also depends on her age. I personally wouldn't buy my youngest 2 the coloured ipods, but at 14 the 5th gen ipod is my dd lifeline Wink
We use screen protectors and protective cases. Just to help prevent wear and scratches. Mine don't use a docking station.
