Too many videos and photos. So can anyone tell me if they can be saved on iCloud so I can delete them from the ipad.

I have photostream switched on but I've heard it only backs up and saves things on the cloud for 30 days?

I also have the photos sent to a remote hard-drive so I know they are safely um.. saved but its a ball ache to get in to view them.

They should save automatically to iCloud. Just check your settings to see this has happened. Not sure how long they stayed but thought it was a lot longer, if so my photos are gone!

Not sure why it's difficult to view your pics on a pc? I just back them up to DVD from my pc in case of crashes and loss of data.

I prefer Dropbox personally.

Oh I don't have a pc! Just the remote hard drive which i have an app for but it means going into the app and they are just files there. It's not very user (by that I mean toddler) friendly Grin

I can't remember where I read that pics only stay there for 30 days, ill have to recheck that.

Thanks sneeze

iphoto will stream photo's for the last 30 days, they are on icloud permanently.

drop box is good and there is an auto sync method, but if your ipad is full i think yo9u would have to pay extra for the storage , ?

ive got an ipad and i dont think you can up storage? ive got a 16G because i dont store much on it photo wise which takes up tons of storage. i think you need to buy a bigger storage ipad (too late now obviously!) like 32 or 64g but im pretty sure you cant add storage like an additional hard drive in a computer. Daft really Grin

correct me if Im wrong!

So, I'm even more confused now. What is the 30 day thing? And if I back up photos to icloud, how do I see them? The more I look into this, the more confused i get. I might have to take a trip to the apple shop.

I transfer my videos immediately to my YouTube account (set as private) and stills to my photobox account then delete them straight away to clear the space. That way I can never accidentally lose them

Could you ask a friend with a pc with a DVD drive to let you log into the cloud then burn all your pics to DVD? Then you could watch them on you TV.

That's the problem with photos, you take thousands and they sit on your computer forever never seen! I'm glad I've got all my old photos (traditional) safe in albums. I wish someone would invent a digital photo album for the newer ones on my pc! Mine are only backed up to the cloud but I rarely check .......that's when I remember the password!

Photostream definitely keeps pictures longer than 30 days - mine still has the pictures I took at an owl & hawk photo day, which was at the end of May. I think it's limited to 1000 pictures, though.
