can anyone tell me how to move my photos around in Windows 8?

On my previous version of Windows, I could easily create new folders for pictures, and drag pictures from one folder to another. I just cannot work out to do this in W8, and have been unsuccessful when trawling the internet for answers. If anyone can help with some advice, I would be very grateful.

I am the least geeky person on the planet but mentioned your query to someone just now who said,

Has she (meaning you) gone into desktop mode, opened the explorer and tried doing it the normal way? So open two windows of My Documents and drag photos from one to another.
