Apple tell me it isn't possible to back up text messages but I'm hoping there is some way of doing it apple wouldn't tell me about. Anyone have any idea? Thanks

Screen shot them?

If you're synching with iTunes then they will be backed up there.

Gbnewbie · 07/10/2013 13:30

Thanks for your replies. There are loads of them so it would take forever to screen shot them all. Have done that with the most abusive ones. Would like to have all of them.
Gwendoline how do you access them via iTunes? Apple responded to me saying there was no way of saving/getting copies of messages?

Oh I see. That's slightly different then. I thought you just wanted to make sure you didn't lose them. Sorry you've had abusive messages :(

There's no official way. There must be an app somewhere though. I'll look later, just about to head out to school.

That would be great, thanks Gwen. Smile

Are you on mac or pc? If Mac there's a an app called Phoneview that looks pretty good and will save the messages off for you in a PDF amongst other things. There's a $30 charge though so depends how important it is.

Will look properly later.

Gbnewbie · 07/10/2013 13:50

I've got a pc but my mums got a mac. I'd prefer not to copy them onto her computer if possible as some are private. It's very important so will pay as long as it would work.
There are various software(?) advertised via a google search but I wouldn't want to risk any of those without hearing from someone that they've actually worked. I'm suspicious that they might be scams.

www.deciphertools.com seems to be well thought of...

Sorry! Forgotten I'd nc'd! Smile

Just tried the trial version of that and it looks good so hopefully it's what you want. I might have to upgrade myself. I've got all the congrats messages when I had my dds so wouldn't mind keeping those safely.

I've bought the full version (just over £12) and its perfect, exactly what I needed. Thank you thank you thank you! ThanksWine
