Thinking of buying DS(6) a Kindle Fire. Am I doing the right thing?

At the minute he is using my iPod touch for Minecraft, Angrybirds, YouTube and to take photos and make movies.

I was thinking about getting him a Kindle Fire for Christmas. Will it do all this stuff? Am I sane? What else do I need to know?

check that all the apps/games you want are available on the Amazon app store before you decide - the Kindle range can't easily access the Google Play store, it's tied to Amazon.

If you can get everything you want, it should be fine. If not, look at the Nexus 7 range, which is Google's own version, and can definitely do all the above.

Hmm a Samsung galaxy tab 2(7inch) or if the budget stretches a nexus will be hugely ore flexible.

Thank you for your suggestions. The Nexus looks a bit out of my budget and I am already slightly balking at shelling out for the Kindle. I will check out the Amazon app store.
