Can anyone tell me why my laptop has gone a bit bonkers, and is leaping around between links/tabs etc?

For a few weeks now I've had a problem with my computer.

If I open a new tab, and then click on a bookmark, it sometimes opens the new webpage on the tab I was just using rather than the new tab that is open. This happens even if I wait until the tab is fully 'loaded' and not in the process of opening IYKWIM.

If I use my back button to go back to the previous page (eg Active Convos on MN) it will sometimes go to a completely different page - not necessarily even the last page I was on, but a page I was on some pages back.

When I'm reading my email if I click once to delete an email it sometimes deletes multiple emails, despite only clicking once.

I've tried slowing down my mouse speed to the least sensitive rate, but it hasn't made any difference.

Has anyone got any ideas as to why this is happening?

When mine started arsing about I eventually discovered the cause was a Jaffa Cake crumb wedged under the shift key.. Any snacking at the keyboard lately?

Do you use the touchpad or an external mouse?If you use the touchpad,you could try plugging in an external mouse?

Is it possible you have a virus or malware.Scan with an AV and Malwarebytes,I have seen this sort of thing especially if there is malware lurking.

I use an external mouse - and have scanned with Avast Antivirus. I'll try a Malware programme, thanks!

Malwarebytes is the recommended one,its free,just remember to update it before you scan.
Just in case its not malware,do you have another mouse you could try,I had problems last week ,using the back button made the page go back to three pages previous,couldnt see anything wrong with the mouse but changed it and all,s fine now.
