I've got an iMac with a 1TB hard drive. It's been recalled. I've waited until the absolute last minute to take it in to get the hard drive replaced. My fault. I know. We've got the genius appointment scheduled for 10am tomorrow.
I've got everything backed up to an external hard drive using Time Machine. I'm confident about that.
The only thing that won't back up is our iTunes playlists. We've got some extensive ones. I've printed out hardcopies of the song titles so if I absolutely have to, I can recreate them manually. But I don't want to.
The Apple support guy said I could export the playlists to an external hard drive or flash drive. He said to be sure the files end in .txt. I've done that and verified they're there on the flash drive. (Not the hard drive I use for Time Machine.)
But isn't that just saving the song titles? What happens when I try to import the playlists back onto the Mac?
I feel out of my depth....
