A techie friend, I think, once advised me that this is a bad idea.

Does anyone know why? Is it because you might get nasty comments? Or that people might then try to contact the children via youtube accounts?

I think he said you can have a private channel on youtube instead.

They will have to be prepared for negative comments. Otherwise I can't see any risk.

Yes you just get people slaggingthem off possibly. You can upload them and make it viewable only to certain people, family and friends say, but if they are hoping to get known get record companies interested etc then I guess that would be pretty pointless. As long as not including personal details I can't see much harm and people are doing the every day - they'd be unlucky to attract really nasty comments I hope.
