How do I convert a CD from MP4 to MP3?

Hi there

I am so sorry to be such a luddite but I wonder if anyone can help me. I am trying to load my CDs onto my computer and would like to copy some of them to my waterproof MP3 player so that I can listen as I swim. Trouble is they go on as MP4 files and I need them to be MP3 otherwise I can't copy them across. Does anyone know how I might try to change them?

I am very untechnical so if you could explain in VERY basic terms that would be great.

Go to download.com and search file format convertor program. Choose something with a good editors rating, there are several good free ones on there.
