iphone 4 - having trouble sending mail

I'm getting message 'cannot send mail' The connection to the outgoing server hotmail failed. Additional outgoing mail servers can be configured in Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

Am managing to get incoming mail but cannot send.

I couldn't get incoming or outgoing mail all last week then lost my contacts.

It all seemed to resolve itself by Friday. Think it's an ongoing hotmail/iPhone glitch.

This happened a while back for me

I deleted my hotmail account on iPhone then reinstalled it and all was fine

Check you have entered password correctly

Tried that but no joy
