I have a laptop with wi-fi access. At least I think I have as I connect wirelessly to a router in a different room.
When people have come to stay they have managed to get their laptops to connect to my router - sometimes I have to give them a very long number on the back of the router.
What I would like to know please is:
I often see 'wi-fi' access advertised in pubs and places like that. The holiday cottage I plan to book in the summer also says it has 'wi-fi' access.
If I wanted to connect my laptop to the wifi in a pub/holiday cottage / whatever would I need some special kit to do so - or is it just like visitors to my house who manage to connect to my router? If so does the pub/holiday cottage have to give you their router unique number to enable you to connect to it.
Probably seems like a very dumb question - sorry. I would just like to be able to take the laptop on holiday with me to look things up.
Thank you
