Does anyone use Dropbox?

Have downloaded it and copy/paste a load of files into the folder on C drive. How does that then go into cyberspace?

Also do I have to drag a file into that folder every time I change something?

I've got free storage with BT but that is taking do long to upload all the files into it and again it appears that I have to upload files every time there is a change.

I need an auto backup off site but unsure what to do :(

I use Dropbox.

I use it for work so I do my work on my computer and then upload it to Dropbox and then the Dropbox copy is the only copy. If I want to edit it I open it from the Dropbox, edit it and then save it directly to the Dropbox.

For an off-site backup from home I use Just Cloud (www.justcloud.com).

Hi Skye, seen you on other threads :) (involving chutney!)

Dropbox installs a folder in (My) Documents, called My Dropbox.

Anything you put in that folder will synchronise with any other Dropbox installations you have, on any other computer - and on the Dropbox servers. So you can access the same documents from any computer: they're synchronised every time they're saved; and they're backed up in the cloud. But if it's not in the folder, it's not synchronised...

If you're only looking for backup, perhaps have a look at crashplan.com too? That backs up everything, with no intervention. It's free to backup an encrypted set to a friend's computer offsite, but they charge if you use Crashplan central.
