About to buy an iPad - can you help me with final decision...

I have read all the old threads on here and done some other research and for a 10 inch tablet the choice seems to be between Google Nexus or iPad. I am not at all tech savvy and can't be bothered to spend loads of time on set up and like the idea of being able to go to an Apple shop if I have a problem so am thinking iPad is the way to go.

Now need to decide whether to get iPad 2 or new iPad. I only expect to use it for surfing web, bit of mn and fb, emails, internet shopping (food and clothes), iPlayer and therefore was thinking iPad 2 would be fine but Apple only have it with 16gb memory...will this be enough? We may longer term want to have a couple of films on there for camping with DC and am worried we may need more memory but £150 extra for new iPad with 32gb seems a lot when the iPad2 would prob fill al other requirements! Also, as I've never owned a tablet, maybe i'll use it for other things that i haven't thought of?

Finally, where would you buy from?

Thanks for any help.

Does anyone actually use the camera on the iPad for anything other than FaceTime? It could be a million MP for all I care. I'm not holding it up to take a photo :o

The iPad 2 camera is terrible, we only ever use it for Skype or FaceTime. Thanks for the info about viewing flash. I'm going to look into that now.

Thanks for the further comments.

Any other thoughts out there before I go and buy?

16g is fine in my experience. It's what we have and it holds plenty. We put films on for dd when we travel by plane and it fits 2 or 3 on along with lots of other apps, some music and photos, etc.

We have an original iPad so no camera or anything. Not really an issue for us as we would never use the iPad for taking photos anyway, although would be nice to be able to Facetime - though have my phone and DDs iPad mini for that. Flash doesnt bother me - a fair few of the tablets don't have it anyway and less stuff on the computer sites seen to use it ime - BBC videos for example now works fine on it. Suppose it depends on what sites you use but never been an issue for us apart from the Disneyland Paris site.

Mind - you could consider the iPad mini if you don't mind a smaller screen - would get more for your money and it is a better screen, sound, processor, etc.

"If I take photos on iPad can I transfer them to an external hard drive or to a Toshiba (for example) PC/laptop? Or am I completely tied into Apple?"

Am interested, as one sister has an iPad 2 (just purchased) while three of us have Android tablets (Archos 70). I'm assuming that the iPads won't let you insert micro-SD storage, so to get larger internal storage you have to get newer/alternative model (and price jumps are more than the market cost of the extra storage).

Seems Dropbox is popular, along with iCloud, but do any of the 'cloud storage' firms guarantee your files are backed up? I'd suggest copying to separate storage too, just in case.
