Black, don't think there is any difference. Put a cover on it, can't tell what colour it is.

I've a white one. It's brand new but I doubt it would discolour. The white is under the screen.
I had used a black iPod for many years and that's why I went with white, just for the change.

I can still see the sides with the cover I use. Makes no difference though so it's whatever you like.

Nothing about it annoys me.
