Raspberry pi GPIO stuff

Anyone out there using their raspi GPIO pins for LED display? Am trying to find some very basic instructions on how to get started. Anyone have any useful tips?

This was one of the reasons I wanted a Pi, but I haven't got round to it yet - the examples here look pretty easy to follow though.

Ive been impressed by how relatively simple it was to get started using python.
