Mobile Phone going through the wash

As the title suggests, my phone has been through the wash in the machine.

It wasn't in very long, maybe 5 mins. Is it salvageable?

Also, its on contract but I have just discovered there is no bloody insurance! Will I still be liable for the monthly contract payments if the phone is totally gubbed? Can I cancel it and take out a new contract?

Hopefuly someone here can help.

stick it in a big bowl of rice so it's covere up cpletly and leave it there for the night

Take the battery out,put it in a bowl of rice and leave preferably for 5 days.
I am sorry to you will have to carry on with the monthly payments and no you wont be able to cancel and take out a new contract.If the rice trick doesnt work,you can buy a PAYG phone either unlocked or on the same network as your on and pop your sim in it .
