god that makes us sound very techy and well off Blush
anyway, dd2 got an ipad mini for her birthday today and am now trying to decide whether we should make a 2nd itunes account? Me and dh each have an iphone and ds and dd1 have ipods so that is now 5 devices with 1 account and its proving to be a bit complicated. I dont want to have buy stuff twice though iyswim, but can you use facetime from 2 devices each on the same email address?
I'm so confused Blush help me please

I have just checked and DH's iPod Touch can Facetime me on my iPhone.
On the one iTunes account we have my iPhone, DH's iPod Touch, an iPod Classic, DD's iPod Touch, and an iPod Nano. DD is getting an iPod Mini for Christmas too.

OK thanks, might just need to spend some time actually working out all the settings then. I'm hopeless at reading instructions etc and should really just take my time!

Oh and the ipad mini is goorrrgeeeouussss - am taking very good care of it for dd2 tonight since she has gone to bed Grin

Set up separate iCloud accounts for mail, contacts etc however use the existing iTunes account for any stuff you download - that way you only pay for apps once! We have 2 iPhones, iPod touch, iMac, iPad and iBook running this way

oh my that sounds confusing - off to look at icloud though!
thank you Smile

Honest it's not! You have an existing iTunes account so use that email address when you go into Settings then ITunes and App Stores on all devices. Then go into Settings then iCloud and set up accounts for each person - this can then be selected as their contact details for FaceTime etc.

Do do keep a note of all iCloud.email addresses and passwords as this will be what Find My IPhone (or whatever) will be connected to.

when i go into icloud though, for the account line it shows my email/apple id on every device and there doesnt seem to be a way to add a new icloud account. Am i being really dense i'm sorry!

Keep that iTunes account on say one of your iPhones then in all the others scroll down and click delete account and then you will get an option to create a new iCloud account. Once you have down this just go back and check the iTunes and App stores still has the existing iTunes account associated

This is really interesting as we are in a similar position . I have just got an iPad, like the idea of having separate iCloud accounts but petrified at the idea of deleting my iTunes account by accident especially as all family use it.

Also if I set up different iCloud ID on iPad for backing up my contacts / calendar can I still sync iPad with iTunes on the mac?

Bump

redlac · 27/11/2012 10:23

Right will have to brace myself to give it a go!
