Converting word to HTML

I have a website, it's only a little thing in wordpress, nothing fancy. I have a press release from a local voluntary group that I want to publish on my site but I keep losing the formatting.

It will allow me to use HTML but I don't know HTML. I have found some websites which convert the text but I don't get all of the formatting.

Can anyone recommend a link?

Why can't you just save as HTML from Word? Is that when it loses the formatting?

Word makes horrible html. Your web platform probably strips it out.
Just cut and paste the text onto your site and reformat the headings/bold back in (does your web platform have some kind of WYSIWYG online editor with buttons for bold headings etc?)

And/or save it as a PDF and upload it as a document to download.

Read it again... Wordpress...yes it does strip out the MS Word formatting. You will need to reformat the text in Wordpress I think.

kellykettle, you ought to have a tab in the Wordpress editor interface, labelled 'Visual'.

Click that tab, and you should see a basic Word-like menu bar at the top of the post editor window, which allows you to format text as you go (no HTML needed.)

Thanks all for this!

My Wordpress theme doesn't seem to have the same functionality. It has options for bold, italics, underline which is helpful but nothing for font size. It seems to be only HTML that actually changes the size.

It just all looks a bit basic in one size.

I am not techy at all and this site is new so I haven't skilled up yet. Smile

No problem, you will soon find your inner techy. :)

On the right of the editor menu bar, is there an icon that looks like 2 keyboards with a gap between them? When you hover over it, a tooltip appears which says 'show/hide kitchen sink'?

If so, click that, and some more formatting options will appear on the menu bar.

If no luck, I can give some quick HTML formatting tips or point you to a website which might help.

notepad ++ is much better and doesn't reformat anything, it's what I use for HTML and it's free :)

Thank you both. The kitchen sink won't let me change sizing. I'm sure it's probably me. Smile

I will have a look at that site.
