Or is it just me and random other bloke I spoke to today have this issue?

I've not updated and yes i have been struggling connecting to wifi.

Didn't realise it was connected?

member · 10/11/2012 18:30

Don't think so, will just check...

DinosaursOnASpaceship · 10/11/2012 18:32

I haven't updated mine. I've had no problems connecting to wifi.

HoneyDragon · 10/11/2012 18:32

I spoke to a chap at o2 today about an upgrade and mentioned it. He said that's why he has gone off Apple as they are dictating to him to upgrade his software by chuffing up his wifi connectivity.

I've not updated & seem to have no problems

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 10/11/2012 18:35

Mine's fine, I usually ignore updates for a few weeks while they iron out the bugs.

Susieloo · 10/11/2012 18:36

After I updated I got a text from Vodafone and I followed the link and it did something technical re my wifi I think, I then had to go back into settings and choose my wifi and re-enter the password.

HoneyDragon · 10/11/2012 18:40

That's what I was doing WhoKnows but my wifi keeps getting jiggered and the friggin' thing keeps telling me to update.

I am on 3gs, don't know if that makes a difference.

If updating will fix it, I'd do it, but it could make it worse.

I had this very problem! I couldn't D/L it without being connected to wifi.
I googled and someone said it was the case they had on it.
I took my new (very cheap Hennes) case off and hey presto. I connected to my wifi.
Very strange considering wifi can travel through concrete and metal Confused

Oh, and I now have iOS6 and haven't noticed anything different yet...

HoneyDragon · 10/11/2012 18:42

Not case here, had the same case since I got the phone over two years ago.

Jins · 10/11/2012 18:43

I have this occasionally. I haven't updated and I have a 3 gs and bt as my provider.

Rebooting my router usually sorts it out

noblegiraffe · 10/11/2012 18:45

My iPhone 4 is fine, I'm with tesco/O2. I couldn't download the update even if I wanted to (which I don't) because I don't have any space left!

PrincessSymbian · 10/11/2012 18:45

But how do you update your ios? Someone let me in on this archane knowledge!

frazzlerock · 10/11/2012 18:46

Go into Settings, General, Software Update

HoneyDragon · 10/11/2012 18:48

Ruled out router as cause.

Rebooting my router or resetting network settings on phone helps temporarily.

But then it starts again.

I can only get wifi if I stand next to the router.

It's wank.

PrincessSymbian · 10/11/2012 19:14

I have no software update within my settings, oh well!

HoneyDragon · 10/11/2012 19:40

Have updated and miraculously I have connectivity again Hmm

AIBU to think Apple are gits?

OP posts:
HoneyDragon · 10/11/2012 19:56

This has made me decide finally to get an S3. I don't like being told what to do.

DoodleAlley · 10/11/2012 20:00

Oh that's interesting.

Will talk to DH who is in 'the know' about this sort of thing.

Determined not to update though!

maxmillie · 10/11/2012 20:04

I have iPhone 4S and haven't got around to updating yet and mine is on my wifi ok

maxmillie · 10/11/2012 20:06

iPhone 5 issue maybe?

TheDetective · 10/11/2012 20:07

I've never updated mine, and I've had it well over a year. Never updated any of my others either. I haven't got any problems with connecting to my wifi. In fact I never have any problems with it, possibly because I don't bother updating it?!

I'm a shit iPhone user!

picturesinthefirelight · 10/11/2012 20:08

I've not updated and have had probs.

I don't know passwords to wifi though as dh keeps changing them for "severity" & keeps forgetting them.

HoneyDragon · 10/11/2012 20:09

I have never updated mine either.

But I now have speed and connectivity back. I wonder if it is a 3G / 3Gs issue?

ArthurShappey · 10/11/2012 20:10

I haven't updated and my connection to wifi is absolutely fine.
