Hello,

I currently have a pay as you go phone, but am putting 10GBP credit on every 3 weeks or so and so think that a contract might be cheaper.

I would like to be able to send texts, make short calls to any network, any time and retrieve voice mail for free.

DH would like a phone where he can make limited calls and also check his email.

We would like to be at the very cheapest end of a contract.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I'd recommend switching to Giffgaff instead.

My daughter is on this and for £10 per month she gets unlimited web/texts & 250 mins.

And if both of you are on Giffgaff you will be able to text and call each other for free, because all my friends and family are on Giffgaff,£10 top up lasts me 2-3 months.

I also recommend GiffGaff... my whole family have now switched and it has saved us a fortune!

The unlimited internet option is going up from the 10 fee, but plenty of people seem happy with GG and the internet isn't top priority from the look of things.

What about a kindle with free 3G. Would this work as a free way to send and receive email? Seems too good to be true.

On my wifi kindle I can send emails via gmail but it is not very good - would it be the same with the free 3g - do you know anyone who does this? It seems like a cheap option

Don't have a Kindle to know, sorry, but looking at your initial post, there have been some deals on the Carphone Warehouse site at 7.50 a month (with Galaxy Ace, Sony Xperia Tipo etc) offering Android phones (so GMail access would be easy and various browsers are available). Tipo runs Android v4.

Sorry, unusure whether any new contract phones offer free voicemail. I divert from Three to my (10 years old) Virgin Mobile number as that does have free voicemail but it's a bit of a rarity these days.

Might be worth checking HotUKDeals.com for hints on mobile contracts with features you're after.
