ipad or kindle

I can't make up my mind between a kindle and an ipad.

Would I be better off getting an ipad and just using the kindle app on there? I mainly read in bed - how heavy is the ipad compared to the kindle? (I have my eye on the paperwhite).

I already have an iphone so not sure if I need an ipad too. But my iphone is coming to the end of its contract so I have told myself that if I got an ipad I could get a cheap sim-only deal on my phone rather than upgrading (current one is running out of room for new apps) - and use the ipad for playing games etc

Anyone got any advice please?

If it's mainly reading you're after then the Kindle wins hands down, it's much lighter and easier to hold. If you want something with games as well, then I'd seriously consider the Nexus 7 over an iPad, smaller and lighter for reading and considerably cheaper!

The iPad is relatively light but it you had to hold it in a reading position for a lengthy period then you will feel the weight.
