iPhone group message, can I create group in advance?

I'm having dc3 next week and there will be a group of people I want to text on arrival., is it possible to create the group in advance so that on the day I only have to send one message? And I don't want everyone to see other peoples responses iykwim..

According to this you just go to Settings -> Messages -> Group Messages.

However, I don't have this setting on my iPhone. Have you tried this?

There's an app called Easy Groups I think, you can use it to create a group in your contacts, then text the group with your news. I used it for birth announcements with both my DC and it worked perfectly.

Watching- I've never figured how to do this!

A bit more Googling suggests you need to either acquire an app to do it (this is one recommendation in the US iTunes) or create a group in whatever is the source for your Contacts on your iPhone. So on my Mac I can open the Address Book and create a new Group in there.
