OK, maybe not really geeky but I need you to tell me it'll be alright! It was on when I spilt water in it, then I turned it off and now can't turn it back on again. Will it dry up by itself or is there something I can do? Aaaaargh.

When you say Mac,I presume you mean laptop. If so put it in a black bag, chuck in some rice( a whole bag if you have it),tie the top of the bag or put an elastic band round it and leave for as long as possible,5 days is the recommended time. The rice will absorb the moisture and dry the laptop out.

Second 1sassy's advice - worked for my colleague when she spilt water on her laptop.

Forgot to say, take the battery out as well.

how do I take the battery out? I have this white kind of soft plastic cover that is screwed to the bottom of the laptop. I got to unscrew the screws, don't I. Fuckers gave tune crosses on them, what would be a suitabledcrewdriver?

I used to use a penny to open the battery compartment on my old Mac laptop. Is yours a posh new one that is more complicated to open?

It's late 2009. Gah, got to take it to the shop for them to unscrew it. Envy
