Please help me get these off my laptop, which seem to be throughout Mumsnet. "Powered by Text-Advance" is only info I have - driving me nuts.

Sorry, am confused - Google AdWords is a service allowing businesses to promote their business by paying for display of adverts.

Mumsnet itself carries adverts across the top and down the side (and in the middle, depending on whether you are using a laptop/desktop or mobile).

If you mean that particular words are underlined on your web browser, then you may have installed some extra software which is causing this. Some 'free' software comes with a sting in the tail, automatically installing other (adware) software at the same time. Remove the adware and the stuff you wanted might stop working.

Just off to see if I can find message "Powered by Text-Advance" caused by adware...

Thanks for reply. This is happening in places other than Mumsnet, even when I try to cancel the page, having avoided clicking on a blue, underlined word.
Wish I could remember what I've installed lately, but unless I picked it up using Pinterest yesterday, (which I admit I don't understand), can't think what has caused this.

I got the expression "adword" from an internet friend's DP, who said he didn't know much more except they had been mentioned on various forums.

The above nuisance seems to be related to Zemgo, and I'll be charged £4.50 per week for something I can't understand as it's printed over large Union Jack with details of the blank blank iphone.
I've no interest in an iphone, and the only item I've clicked this week was Adobe Flash - can anyone tell me if this is connected, and what I should do? Please?

you could always contact them on 020 3318 8579 or e-mail [email protected]

However, if you didn't send any text to them, or give them your number, then not sure how they will be able to charge you.

From the short bit of searching for ZemGo it seems like they do games for mobiles and some products/prizes 'scam' (comments from others, never heard of them myself).

Sorry was distracted by a phone call earlier in the day and been away from this computer since then.

Thanks for the info. I've definitely not been in touch with anyone like that, but checking on viruses it seems Roobface worked similarly and is still around via Adobe's name. MSE was OK on quick scan, which is about limit of my knowledge, and am too worried about becoming involved further if I get in touch with this company. Text-Advance is not on Google at all.
Been away myself, but had no further blue, underlined words since

mid-afternoon, so am hoping it's stopped.
Thankyou for "listening" to saga.

Trend Micro has an online virus scanner (housecall) which may be worth using to independently scan the laptop... in case it finds something nasty...

Thanks so much for help, will continue tomorrow and try to arrange cleanup. Goodnight.

Just ran the Trend Micro Housecall, which didn't find any nasties, and have not had any further intrusions from Zemgo/TextAdvance, so panic over and thanks for all your help.

Last word re: Powered by Text Advance/Text Enhance, the How-To Guides refer to this as a virus, and give
advice to eliminate it by uninstalling last item added: as Network Guy mentioned earlier, this is how it arrives. I eliminated Adobe Flash Plug-in and all blue, underlined words are now gone from laptop - this last word is just in case anyone else is bothered by same thing.

Thanks for the 'final installment' - glad you found it and sorted it out.
