iPad predictive text.

I love my new iPad2 but the predictive text is driving me mad.
It doesn't have a clue what I'm trying to type and I'm getting mightily pissed off with having to correct everything I type.
Could somebody please tell me there is a way to turn it off before I put the bloody thing through the window.

Ps. This post has taken forever to type as I kept having to correct what the predictive text was telling me I was supposed to be writing!

You can turn it off. Just can't remember how! Hang on...

Sometimes it's suggestions are hilarious usually with email addresses and poster nick names. Mine comes out as heading ants. Yours as malice rocks.

Dual carriageway turned out to be Hal earlier. I wouldn't have minded but dual carriageway is a lot to have to type twice this time of night! .

Ooh ooh do you know about keyboard shortcuts? You can get it to type a whole phrase by typing a few letters. So you can set it to type 'I fecking love my iPad I do' by simply typing 'ifl' and so on.

How do you do that head in hands? I am SO fed up with having to type my email address out in full.

That sounds like hell on earth headsinhands.

Settings>general>keyboard and it's the bottom of that list.
