That's it really..... logged out of facebook, closed that browser session. Remembered I needed to contact someone, fb log in page had my email address and password stored - and I've never ticked the "keep me logged in" box. Any ideas please?

I noticed a while ago that the box is automatically checked. You have to uncheck it each time.

the box isn't checked though, I have double checked that. So when I log out, the email and pw box is clear, the box is unchecked. But if I re-open browser session, and go into FB, the email address and password is there?

ok, kept googling and finally found answer - had to delete cookies and that seems to have worked, but will no doubt cause all manner of other problems Hmm

Deleting cookies will not cause any problems,in fact you you should do it on a regular basis to maintain your pc.

Sorry, had gone to bed Blush
Cookies would have been my next reply. And yes, you should delete regularly, cookies tend to cause problems not prevent them Smile

that's good to know. Thanks.

It's not likely to be cookies. The browser you are using probably has a password manager which can store the passwords you have entered for different sites. A well mannered password manager will only store passwords if you've asked it to, however sometimes it's too easy to answer yes when you didn't mean to.

I use the password manager in Firefox, but I have a master password set to control access to my passwords

it does seem to have been cookies Cruel - deleted them and problem gone away?

(but just so I can double check - how can I check whether a password manager is being used in FIrefox?) I NEVER answer yes as shared computer at home, but just want to be sure.
