Mobile internet in France?

Am about to move to France for a few months and I need to continue to have internet access for work purposes (lots of research needed around the work I do). I'm going to be staying with a lady who has internet but I don't want to overuse her allowance (she's an older lady and I'm guessing she doesn't have unlimited allowance)

Does anybody have any experience of mobile internet in France? I have a Mac laptop, and an iPhone which I will take with me, but it's obviously on a UK network.

You might find some regular travellers who have second homes in France in the 'short haul flights' area. My sister and BiL have such a home but are not using the net in france to the best of my knowledge. Might change next year as my sister retires fairly soon, but too late for your enquiry.

I think broadband in France is usually unlimited so check that first. I have 3G in the UK which I use in Europe but it costs £35 for 200MB so is not cheap. You can buy PAYG WiFi dongles in France, I think they are about EUR40 for a month unlimited use. For short periods of intensive use lots of cafes have free WiFi - or if you are desparate, McDonalds.
