Apps on iPhone - saving battery life

Someone posted a tip a while back about how you can manage apps so that they only run when you want them to and they sort of hibernate the rest of the time to save battery life

It was something really simple like tapping and holding the app but not that because that deletes them

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I can't find the post or the answer by googling ?

Help???!!

I wouldn't worry too much about this. Apple phones work differently to Android phones.

Only certain functions are allowed to be multitasked. This means when the phone is in standby or the app isn't running, no power is being drawn. The only exceptions are those like music apps, text messages etc. If you are say running a game and you press the button to minimise it, that game is in reality paused and isn't draining any battery at all.

This means you will save very little if any battery life by killing apps. Instead other things such as turning off wifi & GPS when you are not using them will save you more power.
