Why has iMac wiped all our films and music off our ipad?

So we wanted to download a film from itunes, did that on imac, plugged in ipad (as wanted the film on there), and everything disappeared. Managed to retrieve the music from itunes, but our existing films (except new one) have all disappeared. No longer on ipad and can't find on iMac. We (actually DH mainly) have various Apple kit including ipods and iphone as well, and somehow the syncing everytime you plug one thing into another ends up wiping everything off. It is maddening! So, we have the music, but the films aren't visible on itunes. DH has them on his iphone, but thinks if he plugs it into the imac or ipad it will be wiped! Help!!! We really need those films (DD watches them on long car tips).

I had similar problems when my twins got a Nano each and I tried to synch both to my iTunes. If I am reading your posts correctly, you too have several Apple gadgets syncing with one iTunes account.

My two DCs and I each have a separate profile on the pc and each person now only syncs his/her Apple gadget to the iTunes that is in THEIR profile.

I agree with APMF's solution.

I bought a book and before I could read it it was wiped.

Thanks for responses (sorry for not replying - I posted then went on holiday!). APMF DH has one itunes account but multiple gadgets, so wants his itunes purchases on all of them. If you and your two DC have separate itunes profiles, does that mean you can't share music/films?

I don't know the answer to your problem myself however if you have an Apple store nearby you can book a free appointment with one of their staff (geniuses I think they call them!). I think this is just the sort of thing they can help you with. I've done this before and they were really helpful.
