Can anyone provide me with an idiots guide to twitter please. I've managed to set the account up on my iPhone but just need some basic tips on how others use it.

Are there particular people, groups who are good to follow? Wasn't sure if I should be applying any particular settings?

Id disagree with saying thankyou for retweets for fucks sake. If oyu gave 30 or 40 thank yous your timeline will look crap, also no one really takes FF seriously any more - is just an arse licking exercise

I do thank for RTs. Perhaps not all the time, and if a lot of people RT you then you can say a general thank you, but when you start out it is a good way of getting chatting. You can follow up your thanks with a question, or ask how the other person is doing etc.

I must admit that I don't do #ff very often but as a newbie, it is v handy as you can find new people to follow.
