Itunes - how do you keep all your stuff on the computer but not sync it all to your phone?

There's too much crap music and too many apps to all fit on my phone. How to I pick and choose what is on my phone without deleting the things I don't want (at the moment) from my computer completely?

E.g. - there are some baby apps that DS1 doesn't play with any more but that I want to keep for DS2.

Do I just tick the ones I want or something? And do I have to re-tick each time I sync? And does this work with apps as well as music or what?

Argh, I thought Macbooks and iphones were supposed to be idiot-proof Sad

I make separate playlists for my iPhone and only sync them.

When your device is plugged in, you should be able to see the App tab and check/uncheck which ones you want on each device.

I have 3 iPods and a iPhone linked to my account and iTunes remembers which is which.

I'm still confused Blush

Do I just untick the songs I don't want? When I plug in the phone it says it can't sync as there's not enough space.

I can't figure out how to untick Apps

Right

When you plug in your device, on the left hand bar where it says songs, apps, books etc..Halfway down it will show the name of your device. 'PersonalClown's iPhone' for example.

If you click on that, it will show a summary page of your device. That show have tabs along the top saying Music, Videos, Apps etc.
Clicking on the Apps tab will show you what you have loaded with a little Check box next to it. Uncheck all apps you don't want to the device.

Playlists.
AT the bottom of the left hand bar will be a + sign next to the repeat and shuffle boxes. Click on it and create a playlist(or 3!). Then go through your library by clicking on the left hand bar Music heading, right click the song and click add to playlist. It will give you the option of which playlist.

I hope I've explained it clearly. I do tend to waffle.Blush
