Why would my pc upstairs in the study suddenly not have internet connectivity (nor my iPad) when the main router and pc in dh's office are still fine?

Please help. So frustrating! Suddenly and unaccountably I cannot get the internet on the pc in my upstairs office (its worked just fine for years!) nor on the iPad. Only dh's pc downstairs which is the main one (sorry, am not technical) can get internet. Router is displaying all the correct lights....

Have any other devices tried to join your network? Some router settings only assign a certain number of devices before bumping others off?

Has a neighbour set up other wireless devices?

Turn the router off, leave for 30secs and turn on again.

It may sound simple but try switching off the router leave it a few seconds & then switch back on again. My router does this and it usually works if i do this.

What network are you on? As iv been having trouble with my internet for weeks.

I connected my new iphone to my aol account last night...might that be a factor...

I shall try the old trusty turning off and then on thing. ISP is aol

Genius! - the lot of you. Just turned off router and turned on again - internet is restored upstairs! And to think I spent 40 minutes googling impenetrable techy fora on the net trying to get info.

I have to do the turn router off and on again all the time. It's the most techy thing I do

Weird - our router did the same thing this morning and my iphone and computer couldn't get a connection. Never had this type of connection problem before.

Also fixed by turning it off, couting to 10 bananas and turning it back on again.

Is it a conspiracy?! Are we being watched?
