iPad 1-will it do the job?

Hi, if anyone can help that would be great. I want to buy an iPad mostly for use by ds who is 5. Would an iPad 1 do the job? He will be using it for language games etc. I have been told its least likely to break if dropped is this true? Really don't want to spend a lot !

It will do the job. Get a rubbery cover for it too. My 5 year old has never dropped ours. She usually uses it on the sofa. She doesn't walk around with it it anything.

Oh god yes. I still have my ipad1 and still cannot see a compelling reason to upgrade.

My 5yr old dropped it once onto tiled floor in the kitchen. Aside from a small dent in the side of the case it survived. The child also survived my death stare in case you wondered.

Yes. I upgraded from 1 to 3 and the 1 is now the children's iPad. It does everything they want it to - even the 13 year old.
