I want to get my book worm cousin a kindle for her 15th birthday (joint present from a few of us).

Can anyone tell me how buying books for it works? Would someone (me/her parents) need to put credit card details on it so she can buy books? I am clueless.

Many thanks

I have my debut card details stored on my amazon account ( which is where U buy the books from). So I can buy the books whenever I want and don't need to put in details again.

I'm sure u can get amazon vouchers as well. If her parents ( or u) wud rather not let her have free access to ur payment method. n it works like a top up account.

I find the best way to buy books is to go to Amazon's kindle store on a pc / iPad and choose books. You could control your cousin's spending by using Amazon vouchers rather than registering a credit card. There are hundreds of free books, some self-published rubbish, but loads of classics, so if she's into Brontes and Austin etc she wouldn't have to pay anything.

My DD has an Amazon account. I only had to enter my debit card details when I set it up and then I deleted them so she only uses Amazon vouchers.
I buy her vouchers using my Amazon account and use the option to email the voucher to her. She then applies them to her account.

That's great. Thank you. I shall do the voucher thing.
