Really stupid question about Timeline on Facebook

I am new to FB, only signed up about a month ago. I have my privacy settings set so only friends can see my info/photos etc. If I change to the Timeline do my settings stay the same or do I need to change them again?? TIA

not a stupid question - I've been on FB for years and am resisting timeline so don't know the answer to your question - bumping in the hope that someone can educate us both x

It should stay the same but I check my settings every week and it has been known to change on a few occasions.

So my advice is check your settings regularly.

Also if you play some games your settings change....... keep on top of it and it will be no problem.

Thanks iamme There are certain people on FB that I don't want seeing or knowing about me (one of the reasons I never signed up sooner) so was worried if I changed to the timeline it might just cancel my settings! Good idea to keep checking them tho, might start doing that.

No timeline is mandatory they will force that shit on you and when they do it will change your setting and you will have to go thru them.

Theres lots of I hate Timeline pages on FB join em, Timeline is awful it slows everything down like hell, looks like shit, is totally illogical and a right arse (it took me 20 mins to find my damn settings and I am well comfortable with PCs and build them).

Timeline is a scourge on the face of the net.

Yes, it is mandatory! Everyone is being switched over to it. I held out for as long as I could, but they press-ganged me on Saturday :( When it happens to you OP do check your settings because it's very possible they will change.

Ryoko Agree about how crap it is! There's no logic or flow to the layout - whatever happened to the concepts of usability, and designing sites for real people to use?!

I'd check your settings regularly until Timeline settled in.

Because they force it on you, first you get the "preview" then bang your stuck with it, no choices just this shit.

Iamme They switch you over to it without asking whether you want it or not. One day you log in and discover your nice, neat profile page has turned into a horrible, laggy mess. And then you're stuck with it, forever (or until they realise it's a pile of smelly y-fronts and come up with something new)

Thanks everyone. I quite like the look of it but the settings/privacy thing was delaying me. Sounds like I won't have a choice about it anyway! Why is it so bad??

Because it's ugly, slow as fuck, illogically layed out, hard to use and contains very little information, it's all click, click, click to get to see what people have replied to yesterdays comment on friends post etc and it takes soooo long to load you loose the will to live and spend your entire FB life on the News feed page, vowing never to look at your or anyone elses home page ever again.
