MacBook Pro 13" or 15"

We have been saving up for a new laptop. It is for home use so mostly photos, videos, music, web browsing and a little bit of work for me (just need Word and Excel) we are going to buy a MacBook pro as we both love Apple and want to be able to sync easily with iPhones, iPods etc.

We have just been to the shop to have a look but now we are very confused about which screen size to go for. I would like it as large as possible, as ideally we would be buying a desktop, but we don't have anywhere we can leave a computer out permanently. We work even tempted by the 17 inch but that is probably overkill.

I think we should get the 15 inch however high res screens are only standard on the 13 inch, and we need to buy a shop model as my husband will get a discount then. Does anyone have any opinions? Would it be better to go for a 15 inch with standard screen or 13 inch with high res screen?

I have a 13" - significantly smaller than my last laptop but it's fine. I love it.

Totally endorse what Grockle wrote, 13" is absoultely fine......and easy and light if you take it out and about with you.

The 17 inch is REALLY HEAVY and the 15 inch is not much lighter. I would get the 13 inch. I currently have an Air (which I would not recommend - an inferior spec in every way apart from weight) and a 15 inch. Even the 15 inch is too heavy for regular dragging about so I am still using the Air most of the time. The 13 inch is the perfect compromise.

I have a 13" and it's absolutely fine. I was initially a bit reticent as you are, but glad I went with it.
