Error 413

Increasingly my internet sessions are being terminated by pages failing to load, with the message 'error 413 request entity too large'. There is also a flashing message at the bottom of the screen saying something like 'tried to contact Google etc' when I had not knowingly done a Google search (tho I do have Ask.com among the several search engines I use, and I believe that Ask.com re-routes to Google).

Can anyone help? The internet discussions I've found about this are miles too technical for me to understand.

What device as you using to look at the internet? Is it a tablet, phone, laptop, desktop? What software are you using? Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari?

OK. Have you purged your temporary internet files? To do this, go to tools and click 'clear recent history'. Select everything. Bear in mind that this will delete ALL your saved passwords, so make sure you can remember them!
If you're on Windows 7 and the latest version of firefox you might not see the tools menu, but you still want to clear the recent history - I think it's under options,privacy, history.

If you've never done this, it might take a while so leave it to it. When it's finished close down Firefox, reopen, and see if it's any better.

I've already tried clearing the cache files from recent history, but will try a bigger clear - thanks!

Done a bigger clear, and everything seems good (and faster!) for the moment. Thanks for the help, flatpack.
