iPad2 dead!

It's only a few months old. :( Normally I use it for whatever time during the day/evening and recharge overnight. Sometimes I've run it completely flat, sometimes I recharge when it still has 50%+ left. I've been away for a few days and hardly used it, so didn't recharge, and when I got home today I ran it flat.

And now it's dead. Whether plugged into the mains or not, it just shows a sort of circle like a daisy, with the petals being plucked off and restored, if that doesn't sound too odd. It's not charging at all. Have checked all of the charger connections, all fine, and it hasn't taken a knock or been dropped or anything else untoward.

Any ideas?

I'm sure after mine ran completely flat I had to leave it charging for a while before it would switch on again if that helps.

Thanks for replying. I've run it flat before and it hasn't done this. Have even tried holding the "off" button down, still the daisy...

Have you tried the circle button on the front and the on/off button at the top at the same time (hope that makes sense). I know that when my iPod touch has ever frozen that has restarted it. Need to hold it down for about 10 seconds or so from what I remember.

Oh dear - I have nothing else to suggest - other than looking on apple support pages or googling and seeing if anything comes up. Where did you get it as it shouldn't do that after only a few months and I woukd get in touch with them.

Do you live near an Apple store? They've been very helpful to me in the past. You can book an appointment online.
At a few months old it will still be under warranty.

(Though I have an odd expectation that it'll just miraculously fix itself overnight, daft, I know!)

I have an iphone, kids have touches. No ipads. But sometimes if they're totally and utterly flat dead as a dodo it takes a while for them to switch back on again.

Leave it and see how it is in the morning.

Does anything happen if you connect it to a computer using the USB cable?

Haven't tried that, Miranda, will give it a go after The Fixer and Homeland! Should I plug it in, meanwhile (it had a couple of hours, which is normally enough to restore it) or leave it and see if the daisy finally exhausts it?

I think it should charge if you connect it to the computer anyway so I'd probably leave it. Am hoping it comes back to life :)

I would plug it in and leave it overnight - DD2's ipod was so dead she was in tears, I thought I'd be for the shop the next day but we left it and it recovered itself overnight.

My iPhone can behave really weirdly when being recharged. I would suspect strongly if you leave your ipad charging for a bit, then remove the power cable and give it a minute or two, it will work ok. At least that's what I have to do with my iphone.
