I can find it on google but when I click on the link it's no longer there.

It's regards a dispute over a car I've just bought and I don't have the original advert for the veh - it's no longer on their website!

If anyone thinks they might be able to help I'll post up the details of the veh Smile

Some websites like the BBC keep their web pages for years. Other sites archive off or delete pages after a while. If the car website has sold the car it was advertising then its not likely to keep it active.

Google does not have a copy of the webpage. It merely stores the link from the last time it trawled the Internet. The reason why you still see it on Google is that it hasn't refreshed its directory of links since the web page was removed.

You could always contact the web site although if your dispute is with them I doubt they will be very helpful.

If the link is still on google, you might be in luck. As Pushed says, that means Google hasn't refreshed its copy of that website - as a result, you might be able to pull it up as a cached page.

When you search for it on Google and hover your mouse over the link, some arrows should appear to the right of it. When you then hover your mouse over those arrows, Google will show you an 'Instant Preview' of the page. Part of it will be a link that says 'cached' - on top of the preview window, just below the title of the page. Click that. That'll take you to a cached (ie stored) version of how the page looked before the website was updated by the car sales people. This will likely disappear next time Google crawls the page and discovers it's now gone, so do it as soon as you can!
