I have no back ups of my files, except possibly some of my photos that are on fb. and some word documents that i have emailed myself onto my yahoo account. I bought a hard drive some time ago, but its not working and i dont know how to make it work. :( someone in real life has suggested sugarsync, but im wary. do any wise mumsnetters have any opinons on this service or others like it?

Sugarsync is brilliant. And easy. Definite yes.

There are many to try.

Skydrive which is free with Microsoft hotmail gives you 25GB free. The only downside is you have to upload everything yourself.

What I LOVE is Dropbox which is about as simple as you can get. Just put what you want to backup into a folder under Dropbox and it syncs automatically. Free version is only 2GB but you can pay for more.

Not used Sugarsync personally but heard good things.

Beware of Dropbox t&cs. They own all the info you put on there and can use it at will.

I don't know what Dropbox would want with my spreadsheets toddlerama, but I have a lot of work stuff stored in there. We use it for when 2 or more people need to view and edit files.

We went over to it after being thoroughly thwarted by googledocs - you can't even cut n paste between documents, FFS. And their list viewing is unworkable.

It's been very useful because you can work in it both on and offline, and it syncs when you get online.
