Geeky stuff

Someone help before I beat the living daylights out of my printer!

I cleverly decided to save myself £20 and buy compatible ink for my printer and now it won't print!

It variouly decides to think there is no cartridge at all, that it is not a compatible cartridge or that it is empty. It changes its mind every time I switch it off and on again/pull cartridges out and put them back in again. It swaps between thinking there is something wrong with the colour one or the black and white one.

The really annoying part is that even if I get it to recognise the black one it still won't bloody print because every time you remove teh cartridges it needs to print an alignment page and it won't do that while it thinks there is something wrong with either cartridge. So I can't bloody well print anything having spent £30 on new ink. Argh!

Actually the really really annoying thing is that when I first put them in I printed 5 pages off fine. Then it said the black one was out of ink but printed me a letter I absolutely had to print using the colour cartridge. Then it decided nothing was going to work.

Argh!

I need it!

And yes it is a bastarding Lexmark. I now realise from google that a Lexmark is a bad idea.

It is an X2650 and uses a 14 and 15 in case that helps anyone.

Any ideas?

I have already written stroppy e-mail to the place I bought them from saying the don't work and are not fit for purpose in the hope of getting my money back.

FFS I could buy a new bloody printer with ink cartridges for less than the cost of the Lexmark branded ones.

Sorry, don't know what to suggest. Sad

Maybe you should buy 5 sets of cartridges. OK, it's more immediate outlay, but it might be worth it in the long run.

Please note that I have not used the printer in question, so I suggest you check the reviews, before following my suggestion.

I'm going to stop grumbling.

The place I got them from has immediately offered to refund and said they will send a prepaid envelope to post them back. Fabulous service!

With my refund I am going to buy a HP printer. It is copier/scanner just like my Lexmark but the cartridges cost a grand total of £20 to replace.
