Geeky stuff

those new 'slidy' webpage adverts are driving me up the wall.

The ones with an inch of advert each side of the page and even when you scroll down the page the advert follows you down like a stalker.

It's creepy and irritating. I have started shrinking my webpages to hide the bloomin' things.

Install an adblocker. See no more ads, ever again. Enjoy peace, quiet and calm empty space all over the internet.

(I suggest Adblock Plus, if you're using Firefox. Very good, misses very few ads and I can count the amount of times it's blocked something it shouldn't have on the fingers of one hand.)

lol, they are like a creepy stalker,
even adblock and flashblock doesn't get rid of them either.

feirless · 22/01/2012 22:11

hey, how to get rid of them? don't think my adblock knows how :(
also using firefox, unpaid version of adblock.

Naoko · 22/01/2012 22:17

What website is this on feirless? I'll take a look, I'm also using the unpaid one and it's fine...

I'm using Firefox 9.0 with Adblock Plus and Flashblock. What are these 'ads' of which you speak? Smile I haven't seen one in ages.

Meglet · 22/01/2012 22:48

I can't remember what site they were on, they've been on a few sites so far.

Not used an adblocker before but will seriously consider it if the slidy ads become more common.
