Frozen iPod touch

Ds's new (bought last month) iPod touch has frozen - pressing the on/off button down and holding it doesn't do anything and neither does plugging it in. It's still got battery left but is just completely frozen.

Any top tips to re-start it? I'm not sure how to take it to bits, so any help much appreciated before ds actually has to interact with another human being (heaven forbid...). Grin

My Iphone used to do the same and the only way to get it going again was to let the battery drain down and charge it. Why don't you take it back to Apple?

Mine did that too. It's been in a drawer reproaching me since - I replaced it with a £15 mp3 player from Argos, but dh is grumpy about it because he bought me the ipod!

I've a mate at work says you can re-set them, but I keep forgetting to take it in!

ah OK - will unplug it tonight. I can take it to an Apple store tomorrow - bought it on-line via Amazon. Do you think they'll take a look at it?

DD's only ever did it once. We drained the battery then charged it and it was fine. Yes, an Apple store will help you regardless of where it was bought.

Dh says to hold down the power and the lock button for a few seconds, well he actually said till it turns off but that didn't feel very helpful! It worked when my iPad froze

If you hold down the power and lock button together then after a few seconds you should see an apple. Will find their website and what they say.

This might help a bit

so press the round button and the power button at the same time? Haven't tried that - will do... (am so technical...Blush)

I have done it a few times :) Do it for a few seconds until the Apple appears and then it should restart I think.

Hurrah hurrah - thanks all, it worked a treat!

Glad it worked, I panicked when my less than a week old iPad froze and dh already knew that trick, I've never been so pleased
