Sticking it to BT?

We are moving house soon and we'd like to ditch BT, with whom we currently have landline and broadband.

We would like to get everything from Sky:

Sky+ HD (already have)
Sky broadband

We don't really need the phone as we never use the landline.

Is it possible to just get rid of BT entirely?

Sky broadband is delivered over the telephone line so you will need a landline still. However, Sky can also provide that so in theory you save by having everything through them.

The only way to get broadband without a landline is either go 3G (but I wouldn't recommend this) or if you happen to live in a Virgin Media area. Even then, usually you'll find the saving to be miniscule as their deals are all geared towards getting you to triple play with them. Ie. TV, phone, Internet.

Oh sorry just thought....unless you happen to also live in an area covered by wifi (usually rural areas).

And, most of the other providers (including Sky) re-sell BT Wholesale services anyway for some, if not all, of their services...
