How do I take off music and de register my ipod so that I can sell it second hand

I bought an ipod nano and it has been registered on itunes and has some stuff on but now we don't want it.(long story) how do I take the music off it and wipe it so we can sell it or return it off .

Won't it still come up as registered to us if someone else has it?
