ebook purchase for friend in 'closed' country..who knows what to do?!

My friend (expat) lives in a country which has strict controls on internet access, types of media allowed etc.

She has a kindle and I want to get her some of the 'Shardlake' books..which are hardly inflammatory (unless you are Henry VIII).

An Amazon/other voucher wouldn't work as she can't access the sites.

I don't have a kindle so don't know whether I could download the ebooks I buy onto my computer, the put them on a memory stick and post it - would that work?

The actual novels I want to send would not contravene any sensitivity issues
in the country..I just don't know how to do it!

Thanks for any help.

It would work, you'd just have to get the files in kindle format onto a memory stick. Alternatively, it depends on just how strict the controls are and how good the filtering used is - could she use Tunnelbear to get at amazon herself? Or, if filters on email aren't as good, depending on file size limits both your and her end, you might be able to email her the files.
