It says it is installing update 1 of 1, and it is taking hours and hours. I left it doing it overnight last night, with the power lead out and the battery eventually went dead. I have now plugged it back in and switched it on and it is still saying it. I need to do some work on it. Please help!

What sort of laptop is this? I presume it's Windows? If it's new is it Windows 7?

Can you press CTRL-ALT-DEL and does it bring up the task manager? If you can a shutdown and then a restart might help the problem.

Hi thanks for your reply, had tried ctrl alt delete which did not work, in the end looked on youtube and shutdown then pressed f2, f9 and f10, which seems to have solved it Smile
