Thought I'd bought a MIFI for my ipad but dont think I've got the right thing

And it looks like you need to plug it in to a USB connection. The Ipad 2 doesn't have a USB connection.

Only other thing is I've got a netbook. If when I was out I plugged the dongle into my netbook would the Ipad then be able to pick up on the wifi from the netbook?????

Its not the end of the world I suppose but I was hoping to be able to use my shiney new ipad when away for the weekend.

I thought the ipad had an inbuilt wireless thiny bob, like the iphone? You should be able to connect to any open wireless networks or your home wireless. If you want to use it on the go you need an iplan thingy from a mobile phone comany like this, might be wrong though. I don't have one . I am deprived. DH wouldn't buy an x-box with kinnect and an ipad for my birthday

no, that's more a laptop dongle. You need a mifi type one which broadcasts wifi - but doesn't plug into the ipad. it is stand alone.you can get them on ebay / amazon.

and in answer to second q. no because the dongle doesn't broadcast wfi, only the netbook can pick it up.

There's probably some software you can get to put on the netbook to broadcast to the ipad - but probably more trouble than it's work. YOu can get your phone too broadcast wifi from a 3g connection - but again a bit faffy.

Its a bit crap because if you google Mifi three, it takes you to the page I've linked to. So makes you think thats what it is. Do you think I can send it back, I've opened the box?

But then the real mifis are really expensive - £70 on the Three website. Maybe I'll keep it and just use the netbook.
