accidentally uninstalled and then deleted built in web cam, on my Acer netbook

any advice gratefully accepted, about how to undo this, especially as I don't remember actually going anywhere near this application(I feel such an idiot emoticon) and now DD2 can't see me when she skypes

Okay, you running windows? Run windows restore and roll back to before you did the silly thing and it will come back :)

To help you in not doing it again...
Had you been using a USB drive/external drive/camera card or similar which you then ejected using the icon in the taskbar? Because some computers (especially Acers ime) have a habit of randomly listing other bits of equipment there, which can then be clicked on by mistake - I've had several teachers accidentally 'eject' their DVD drive or their wireless card . Usually they come vback with a restart, but not always, especially the wireless & I've had to do a restore as wmmc suggested.

Rusty I think you are now officially the Sherlock of mumset as I did get round to tidying up my camera a few weeks ago, and then 'lost' the web cam!
