I have downloaded the audacity software and want a very quick guide on how to make short clips of music from traks i upload form my iTunes library. I can put in a track as a project, but it doesn;t come through in a listenable format and I can't edit it.

Would like to use in a school assembly tomorrow, does anyone have a quick user quick user guide - ones on YouTube too long

Okay. I've just tried it (I mainly use Bias Peak, but use Audacity for some things).

Open up Audacity.
In the File menu select Open and choose the track you want.
It should open in an editing window. Highlight a bit, and hit the space bar to play.
Open another window using New from the File menu.
You should then be able to highlight the relevant section of track in the first window, cut it and paste into the new File window the same way you would in Word, either using the Edit menu or the Cntl X and Cntrl V commands.
You can then either Save, which creates a file that will only talk to Audacity, or you can export, which should give you a choice of file formats.

I'm using a Mac, but it should be similar on a PC.
